Session 3

Worship Leader: Jonny Hughes

Jonny Hughes is the Worship and Arts Associate at First Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas. He and his wife Megan were married on April 30, 2022, and they have 2 golden retriever fur babies. He began leading worship for middle school, high school, and college students in 2013, and since being ordained for the ministry in 2016, he has lead worship for the church’s modern service on Sunday mornings. Because of his Biblically prescribed job description to, “train and equip God’s people for His Kingdom in the world,” Jonny gravitates to music as a tool. He believes that rhythm and tempo build a space for individual believers to participate collectively, harmony provides opportunities for each unique member to contribute their distinct, God-given identity to the portrait of praise, and lyrics born from Scripture are mysteriously capable of anchoring God’s people in the Truth inherited by each generation of Christianity since the apostles.

“Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom He gives. Sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.” Colossians 3:16 NLT

Speaker: Cody McMurray

As the pastor of Redeemer Church, I am dedicated to cultivating a Christ-centered community in Wichita Falls, TX. Our theological vision at Redeemer Church is centered on God’s gospel, God’s mission, and God’s church, guided by Isaiah 45:22 ESV: “Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.” We believe in the transformative power of the Gospel, the importance of disciple-making, and the significance of building a loving church family. Our life’s mission is to create an environment where believers grow in faith, engage with the Gospel in their everyday lives, and prioritize relationships built on life with Jesus. By focusing on these core principles, Redeemer Church serves as a beacon of hope and love, demonstrating the profound impact of a life dedicated to God’s mission. Our family is committed to fostering deep connections and supporting one another as we seek to glorify God through our worship, discipleship, and evangelism efforts. In doing so, we embody the essence of what it means to embrace “ALL of Christ, for ALL of life.”
