Wilderness Discipleship 1
This trip is for those seeking true adventure in remote locations. You will spend 6 days paddling down one of the most pristine rivers in the Southwest. Our guides will teach the hard skills of paddling and making the river banks feel like home all the while teaching students how to study God's word in a way that effects change in their lives. A major focus of this trip will be how to apply the Bible to our way of life.

Does spending 3 nights in the 1400 acre backcountry of Camp Eagle, learning the basic skills related to outdoor adventure, and studying God's word with no distraction sound fun? Then test your skills as our guides take you on a 3 night paddling trip down the Devil's river that will include mountain biking, climbing, and a trip to the famous Dolan Falls! The focus of this trip will be gaining a proper perspective of God and man and develop skills that help in studying his word and learning to apply Biblical truth to daily living.

Wilderness Professional Semester
Program Description

Our semester courses address the three major things employers look for when assessing job applicants: personal experience, formal training, and nationally recognized certifications. We provide all three throughout the length of our semester courses to give participants a solid foundation to start pursuing their career goals. The outdoor industry is an environment of continued education and ongoing skill refinement; it is important to continue developing one's personal skills and pursue further education. This is where you start.

Fall Semester

The fall semester is great for aspiring guides because a lot of time is spent on foundational skills. Our Fall course begins with backpacking, backcountry travel, Leave No Trace, and outdoor living skills. These skills will be a new challange because they will be taught for a guide mindset rather than from a recreational standpoint. The course then moves into medical training with a Wilderness First Responder certification closely followed by whitewater guide school, single pitch and multi-pitch rock climbing, and canyoneering. Not many guides have careers that will be as diverse as this semester. However, we believe it is important for aspiring guides to be exposed to as many types of terrain, challenges, and outdoor disciplines as possible to help them find what areas they would like to specialize in. The over arching principles learned in this semester will apply to all outdoor guiding, in all terrains, and will make a great base for any aspiring guide.

Spring Semester

Our Spring semester is very diverse. We believe it is important for aspiring guides to be exposed to multiple types of terrain and challenges to aquire more experience and create a larger knowledge base. We spend a lot of time on foundational guiding skills in the mountains. The Spring semester includes winter disciplines to help students gain valuable, hands on experience, and nationally recognized training necessary to guide during the winter. This semester includes skiing and snowboarding, avalanche training, backcountry travel, Leave No Trace training, outdoor living skills, single and multi-pitch rock climbing, outdoor education practices, a Wilderness First Responder certification and whitewater guide training. These skills are taught in a way that encourages the development of a guide mindset rather than the mentality of a recreationalist.
